Project Description
Our clients had recently moved from their home in Narrabundah to “Dundoos”, a much loved but somewhat neglected hundred year old weatherboard cottage on acreage in wine growing Murrumbateman, half an hour’s drive west of Canberra.
After enduring a handful of cold winters and hot summers in the existing weatherboard cottage, our clients were eager to pursue our proposal of an addition which tied seamlessly with the existing cottage. In plan, the existing cottage (now predominately bedrooms) opens into a more contemporary layout at the rear. The widened addition makes most of it’s northern orientation, providing a controlled level of light in through summer and winter seasons.
This has resulted in the preservation and successful adaption of a historically significant home to the local Murrumbateman area.
