This project called for a twice the floor space and a change of orientation to this small ex-govvie family home.
The additions (family room, dining, kitchen and wet areas) are stepped down from the original floor level to create high ceilings and bring the expansive new deck a little closer to garden level. The new “away room” is salvaged from the relocated kitchen and given a northerly window. A study nook is carved out of the widened passageway. The master bedroom has colonised the original living room, borrowing a little verandah space for the walk-in-robe. All new double glazed cedar windows complete the transformation.
